Planning Subcommittee

Interoperability Subcommittee

This subcommittee is charged with the daunting task of improving interagency communications throughout the four counties and beyond. The group is tasked with making major communications upgrades that will permit communications links to be made, where they were previously non-existent.

Information Sharing

This subcommittee is responsible for identifying potential threats to critical infrastructure and key assets in the region, evaluating methods for many agencies to collect and share information, and make recommendations regarding implementation of various technologies.

Training and Exercise

The Training and Exercise Subcommittee has been busy coordinating training sessions provided to local first responders and other officials. The council chose to focus initial attention to sending individuals from the region to "Train-the-Trainer" courses. Those individuals are now qualified to offer the courses to other departments. This approach is more cost-effective than having trainers from distant locations travel to Massachusetts. Exercises approved by EOPS and ODP are eligible for reimbursement through this subcommittee.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

This subcommittee has helped communities identify their needs for updated protective gear for first responders. Over 1,000 protective masks and six fit-testing devices were purchased. The masks will be distributed to local police departments. Fit-test devices have adapters that fit fire department "Scott Packs" and will be available for all fire and police departments to utilize.
